Oeceoclades decaryana x self
(parent plant pictured)
Unusual terrestrial/lithophytic species native to central Africa. Small brown pseudobulbs are topped with narrow brown and tan variegated foliage. Must be grown in very well draining media that does not need to be repotted often. Usually a fine grade fir bark media with small gravel bits. Prefers warm conditions and medium to bright light. Tiny tan and white blooms emerge on upright stems in mid-summer. Plants like to be watered very regularly during the spring and summer months. During the winter, only water enough to keep the bulbs and roots from shriveling. Not suitable for basket or mount culture.
Please Note- This is a miniature with narrow foliage and tiny blooms. Big things come in small packages! We expect these to flower for the first time within 12 months.
These seedlings were potted this past spring into small plastic pots. These will not need repotting for a long time, and will prefer to stay in snug containers when they are transplanted.
