Brazilian Edelweiss (Sinningia leucotricha)

Great for collectors of the odd and unusual. This tuberous species can be grown like many indoor succulents. The light green foliage is covered in silvery ‘hairs’ giving it a fuzzy appearance. Tubular, salmon orange blooms appear early in the spring before leaves are mature. Old foliage drops in late winter, to make room for new growth. During months with little to no foliage, very little water is required.

Care Suggestions: Grow in a brightly lit window or sun room, as this will encourage stronger stems and flowers.  Water only when the soil becomes dry to avoid rotting the central corm (tuber).  Tropical conditions only, does not tolerate frost.  When repotting, use a fast draining media containing coarse grit to prevent wet soil conditions.

We are offering seed-grown plants in 4" pots.  Plants have been recently moved into these containers and should not be repotted anytime soon.

Growers Note 2/20/25- We are starting to see the first hints of spring growth emerging from dormancy.
