Ordering Information- Carter and Holmes Orchids

All offerings are subject to availability, and all prices are subject to change without notice. Each catalogue, listing, order form, or other announcement of company policy supercedes all prior or undated announcements of company policy. All orders are filled in the sequence in which payment arrives. We accept checks, money orders, or approved credit cards (VISA, MASTER CARD, DISCOVER OR AMERICAN EXPRESS). A $20.00 charge will be assessed for returned checks.

Packing and Shipping (contiguous US)

We will pack and ship “Orchid of the Month” orders to retail customers within the contiguous United States (not Alaska and Hawaii) for a charge of $12.50. We will pack and ship other retail orchid orders of any size to customers within the contiguous United States for a charge of $15.00. These discounted packing and shipping charges are not applicable to orders that are already subject to other discounts (including AOS Coupons) for which we will charge for our actual cost of shipping plus a packing charge of five percent (5%) of the discounted plant total.

Weather permitting, we generally ship domestic orchid orders by Two Day or Three Day express services, within ten days (10) to two weeks of receipt of the order unless otherwise requested.

Guaranteed Safe Delivery

We guarantee safe delivery of orchid orders within the contiguous United States if we are allowed to choose the shipping method, if we are allowed to withhold shipment until weather conditions are conducive to safe delivery, and if someone is available to sign a delivery receipt. We will pack orchids in bud or bloom carefully, but we will not guarantee that buds or blooms will not be damaged in shipment.

We will not generally guarantee safe delivery of orchid orders by U.S. Priority Mail, Air Freight Collect or any ground delivery services. However, we will ship by those methods if requested.

Supply Orders

Supplies will generally be enclosed with orchid orders or shipped by Federal Express Ground, unless otherwise requested. For supply orders and for orchid orders that include supply items, we charge $2.50 per order for packing and shipping the supply items plus an additional charge related to the weight and volume of the supply items if necessary. We can estimate shipping charges if requested. In that case, if our actual cost is significantly less than the estimated charges, we will refund or credit to customers’ accounts any amount in excess of our actual cost. Likewise, if our actual cost is significantly more than the estimated charges, we will contact customers by telephone or by email before shipping for authorization before shipping the order.

Bonus Plants

We enclose one free bonus plant (our selection) for every five orchids ordered at our regular prices. (Not including orchids purchased with AOS Coupons, discounted collections or other discounts.) If any of the five orchids ordered at our regular prices are dug-up, bare-root plants then the free bonus plant will also be a dug-up, bare-root plant. Customers may also select one free bonus tray priced at $250 or less for every five trays purchased at our regular prices.

Discounts

We offer volume discounts to retail customers for orchid purchases of $100 or more at our nursery in Newberry. Please inquire for details.

We offer wholesale discounts to businesses that resell plants. Please inquire for details. Kindly forward business license/sales tax information with any such request. Credit applications will be sent upon request.

We offer a discount of 25% to orchid societies for orchid orders of $200.00 or more. We welcome society group orders as well as orders for society auctions, raffles, and sales. Please do not ask us to package plants separately or to accept payment from several sources.

We invite orchid societies to schedule group visits to our nursery. We will provide lunch and extend discounts of up to 25% for groups of twelve or more orchid society members who schedule visits on Saturdays.

Each year we are happy to contribute $25.00 gift certificates to societies on our mailing list.

Periodically we may offer shipping discounts based on the number of plants ordered. These discounts are only applicable to individual plants.

These discounts are not applicable for supplies, collections, or otherwise discounted plants. (We do not honor more than one discount per order.) Discounts do not apply to packing and shipping charges. Postpaid offerings are already discounted and like Retail Volume Discounts, Wholesale Discounts and Orchid Society Discounts, are not eligible for bonus plants or the discounted packing and shipping charges described above.

We will pack and ship wholesale orders and other discounted orders for our actual cost of shipping plus a packing charge of five percent (5%) of the discounted plant total.

Foreign & Overseas Shipments

It is the policy of Carter and Holmes Orchids to require payment in U.S. Dollars before releasing any foreign or overseas order for shipment. A pro-forma invoice will be sent upon request and plants reserved for 30 days. Your local authorities can advise you as to your current import requirements. If an import permit is required, we will need a copy. In most cases, we must provide a Phytosanitary Certificate and CITES documentation with your order. Only Phytosanitary Certificates are required for shipments to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. We do not charge a processing fee for orders of $500.00 or more going outside of the continental United States. For orders of less than $500.00, we charge a processing fee of $7.50 for Phytosanitary Certificates alone and $50.00 for both Phytosanitary Certificates and CITES documentation. Overseas shipments and Canadian Shipments will be sent bare-root. Canadian shipments will be sent by Federal Express. Overseas shipments will generally be sent by Global Express Mail.

Our new catalogue is ready for distribution annually in March. Because of the additional cost involved, we ask that you enclose a non-refundable fee of $2.50 with catalogue requests from Canada or Mexico or $7.50 from all other countries. (No such additional fee is necessary for catalogue requests from anywhere with a United States Postal Service Zip code.)

Damaged Shipments

We take great care in packing your order. If damage is evident upon receipt of an order, please keep all packaging material and plants and please report the damage to us immediately. We may request the return of damaged items.

ATTENTION CUSTOMERS IN CANADA-
No permit is required. We do need to have the plants inspected and provide a phytosani-tary certificate and a CITES document. There is a charge of $50 for the paperwork on orders totaling less than $500, but no charge for paperwork on $500 or higher orders. We usually ship by an express delivery service, and there are customs duties that will be charged to the customer. We are not able to determine those charges. We provide NAFTA documentation. We have had good success shipping to Canada and guarantee safe delivery. (Shipments are best made to a home address rather than a business address, for businesses often have specific customs brokers who get involved at higher costs.)
